Look for materials that are certified organic or OEKO-TEX to avoid harmful chemicals. Ensure fitted sheets have deep pockets for a secure fit and the fabric is breathable, like cotton, to reduce overheating risk.
Is it safe to use crib bumpers with elephant-themed bedding?
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends avoiding crib bumpers due to suffocation and entanglement risks. Many elephant-themed sets include bumpers; we advise against using them for safe sleep.
What certifications should I prioritize for baby bedding?
GOTS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 ensure no harmful substances. Also look for CertiPUR-US for foam products. These certifications indicate rigorous testing for safety and environmental impact.

Mattress toppers are not recommended for infants under 1 year old due to increased suffocation risk. For older toddlers, choose a topper that fits snugly and is breathable, but prioritize a firm, flat mattress for sleep.

A basic set includes a fitted sheet and a flat sheet. Some sets add a blanket or comforter, but avoid heavy quilts for infants. Bumper pads and other accessories are often included but may not be safe; choose wisely.
