Frequently asked questions
What is the ideal depth for an extra deep double mattress protector?
Extra deep double mattress protectors typically fit mattresses 15 to 18 inches deep, but some models accommodate up to 24 inches. Always measure your mattress depth before purchasing to ensure a secure fit.
Are waterproof mattress protectors breathable?
Many modern protectors use breathable membranes that allow air circulation while blocking liquids. Look for materials like cotton terry or bamboo blends, which offer both waterproofing and breathability.
Do mattress protectors affect the feel of the mattress?
A well-designed protector should not significantly alter the feel of your mattress. Thin, fitted protectors are nearly imperceptible, while quilted ones may add slight cushioning. Owner reviews often note minimal impact on comfort.
How do I choose between a fitted sheet-style and an encasement protector?
Fitted sheet-style protectors cover the top and sides and are easier to install. Encasements fully cover the mattress for better allergen protection. For extra deep double mattresses, fitted sheets are usually sufficient unless you need full coverage.
What certifications should I look for?
Look for OEKO-TEX certification, which ensures no harmful substances, and CertiPUR-US for foam components. These certifications indicate higher safety and quality standards.
