Frequently asked questions
Can I use any crib mattress in a pack and play?
No, not all crib mattresses fit. Look for models that specify compatibility with standard crib mattresses (typically up to 5 inches thick). Always measure your mattress and check the playard's interior dimensions to avoid gaps.
How do I ensure a safe fit for a crib mattress in a pack and play?
The mattress should fit snugly with no more than a 1-inch gap on any side. Choose a playard designed for crib mattresses and follow the manufacturer's guidelines. Avoid using mattresses that are too thick, as they can create a suffocation risk.
Are there certifications I should look for?
Yes, look for JPMA (Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association) certification, ASTM safety standards, and GREENGUARD Gold for low emissions. These ensure the playard meets rigorous safety and chemical requirements.
Can I travel with a pack and play that fits a crib mattress?
Yes, many models are portable. The Lotus Travel Crib is particularly lightweight and fits in a backpack. However, consider the weight and fold size; some playards are bulkier than others.
Do all pack and plays include a mattress?
No, some pack and plays come with a thin mattress pad, but for a standard crib mattress, you'll need to buy one separately. Always confirm if the playard is designed to hold a standard crib mattress before purchasing.
