Frequently asked questions
Are waterproof futon mattress covers machine washable?
Yes, most waterproof futon covers are machine washable. Use cold water and a gentle cycle, then tumble dry low. Avoid bleach and fabric softener to preserve the waterproof membrane.
Will a waterproof cover make my futon feel hot?
Some covers can trap heat, but many use breathable materials like cotton or bamboo. Look for covers with a cotton terry or Airknit surface for better airflow and moisture wicking.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure your futon mattress thickness and compare with the cover's fitted sheet depth. Most covers accommodate up to 18 inches, but some stretch-fit covers handle up to 22 inches. Ensure the cover has a snug fit to prevent shifting.
Do these covers make crinkling noises?
High-quality covers use quiet, noiseless materials like polyurethane or TPU membranes. Avoid cheap vinyl protectors if noise is a concern. Cotton and bamboo surfaces also reduce noise.
Are these covers safe for children or pets?
Yes, many covers are hypoallergenic and OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they're free from harmful chemicals. They also protect against allergens and accidents, making them ideal for kids and pets.
